Holiday Imminent!

We are off the Zante in a couple of days to grab the last of the late summer sunshine before the gloomy weather back home takes a firm hold and nosedives straight into winter! Brrrrr

We will be staying at Katerina's Rooms in Kalamaki near to the beach http://www.allzante.gr/apartments/katerinas/ the price was very reasonable and I will review the accommodation and our return visit to Kalamaki for the first time in a few years. We usually stay in quieter, more traditional resorts and it will be interesting to see how this resort has changed ...

Late deal!

We have received news recently that some money is coming back into the pot, makes a change from the constant stream going out!!! It didn't take long for me to find a flight to Zakynthos at a very reasonable price and was firing out emails enquiring about accommodation prices. So we are going back to Zante again at the end of September, we will be staying in Kalamaki. Very touristy I know but it holds a special place in our hearts as this was the first place in Greece we stayed in 1995, back when Kalamaki was a few tavernas and lots of fields and goats, way before the main strip became as busy as it is today. It was 1999 when we last stayed in Kalamaki, just as the building boom started along the main road and we have been staying in Amoudi and Alykanas for a while so it will be a different experience. We have secured some accommodation close to the beach (thanks to Julie at Merlis Car Rentals for booking this and the car hire). As it is only a few weeks I have started packing and preparing. We are actually very excited about going back to Zante because we love the place so much, even though this will be our 12th visit, I will blog some of our favourite things to do over the next few weeks. Also, as I stood in the kitchen looking at my 2007 Greece calendar (having purchased one each year since being sent one by a friend from Zante) I realised that having spent 4 weeks in Greece in the summer the one thing I forgot to do was buy a 2008 calendar .... so we HAVE to go back to Greece to buy a calendar! Any excuse eh?! Jools x
